Save Energy and Your Eyes With a Flat-Panel Monitor

When I purchased my last desktop computer in 2002 flat panel monitors were thousands of dollars. I was in college, so they may have only seemed like thousands of dollars but none the less they were incredibly expensive. So expensive that opted for a huge 17” monitor that I am quite sure weighs more than I do and takes up 75% of my computer desk space.

Over the past few years flat panel monitors have gradually been going down in price now making then extremely affordable for the masses. If you have an older desktop computer, updating it with a flat panel monitor can make it seem like an entirely new computer system.

Flat panel monitors use roughly 1/3 of the power that your typical computer monitor does which can lower your energy costs for running your computer. A flat panel monitor will also run much brighter than a typical monitor and usually provide users with a much crisper image.

One huge advantage to purchasing a flat panel monitor is the size and portability of the monitors. A flat panel monitor is incredibly easy to move around unlike my old bulky monitor, and can be tilted and swiveled to an angle that works best for you and your computers set up.

I work as a video editor and use a set of Dell flat panel’s for video editing. One neat feature of those monitors I just discovered is that they can be turned length wise which can make viewing documents much easier. Rather than scrolling up and down to look at a page I can just let it fill the screen.

If you’re looking for a way to save space, save energy and save your eyes then a flat panel computer monitor can be a great way to update your computer and your life.
