They may earn gazillions of dollars for shooting a movie; have fans throw undergarments as they belt out tunes; and house more vehicles in their garage than a car dealer has on his entire lot, but celebrities are humans just the same. And as such they experience the circle of life as we all do (only they do so in designer duds). With that said, here is a synopsis of recent milestones met by a few famous names:
BIRTH
Wonder if he is MMMMBopping in the nursery? Taylor Hanson, the middle brother in the band Hanson, and his wife, Natalie, welcomed their third child, a son, into the world on September 4th. According to the band’s official website, the baby’s name is: River Samuel Hanson.
“River is an incredible addition to our family,” the new dad says in the web posting. “We could not be happier!”
Taylor and his wife wed in June 2002—a few months later they welcomed son Jordan Ezra. In April 2005, Natalie gave birth to daughter Penelope.
WEDDING
Finally, some good news for actor Mel Gibson. Months after being arrested for driving under the influence and allegedly making anti-Semitic comments to a Malibu police officer, the Academy award winner has something to smile about. According to PEOPLE Magazine, Gibson’s 26-year-old daughter Hannah married Grammy nominated blues and rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd on Saturday in California. Hannah is the oldest of Mel Gibson and wife Robyn’s seven kids, and their only daughter. (Do you suppose he toasted the couple with sparkling water?)
FUNERAL
Another member of America’s royal family has died. According to news reports, Patricia Kennedy Lawford, sister of the late President John F. Kennedy, died Sunday at her Southampton, New York home from complications from pneumonia. She was 82.
“My sister Pat is irreplaceable,” Senator Edward Kennedy said in a statement. “Everyone who knew Pat adored her. She was admired for her great style, for her love and support of the arts, her wit and generosity and for the singular sense of wonder and joy she brought into our lives.”
Lawford was considered one of the “princesses of the early-1960s Camelot era in American politics.” In 1954 she married actor Peter Lawford who was a familiar face in Hollywood. However, after about 12 years together, the Lawford’s marriage hit the rocks. In 1966, Pat became the first member of the devoutly Catholic Kennedy clan to divorce. In the years that followed she moved to New York City, where, as an active supporter of the city’s arts scene, she founded the National Committee for the Literary Arts.
