Oh The Things Kids Say: Deciphering Slanguage (Teen Slang)

Although I am not the mother of a teen, I spend enough time around teens to know one thing—- half the time I have no idea what they are saying. I’m talking about teen slang, or slanguage, of course. Slanguage is a sometimes secret, arbitrary and every changing language. If you have teens at home and find yourself confused by what they are saying, I present to you an A to Z primer of some of the more popular teen slanguage today.

Part I
A-G

A

All that and a bag of chips–Very attractive or fine or really cool.
All days–24-inch tire rims.
All up in my grill–Being in someone’s face.

B

Busted–Ugly, also something that is good.
Butter, butta–Something good.
Ba-dink-a-dink and ba-dunk-a-dunk–A small and big rear end, respectively.
Ballin’–To flaunt your money.
Beast–Someone who excels in everything.
Beat–Someone who is ugly.
Biscuit–A gun.
Biting Me–Copying someone.
Bootydoo–Someone whose stomach sticks out further than their rear end.
Breezy–A female or girlfriend.

C

Chillaxin’–A combination of chilling and relaxing or basically just hanging out doing nothing.
Crunk— Awesome although originally a combination used to describe someone who was crazy and drunk.
Cheddar–Money.
Check Up On It–To gyrate or press on a female’s body while dancing.
Chicken Head— An ugly girl, generally one that no guy wants to date.
Chop It Up–Have a conversation.
Come Thru–To go to someone’s house.
Crisp or crispy–New or fashionable clothes.

D

Down With–Someone who is high.
Deezam–Damn.
Dip Out–To leave.
Dime-piece— A good looking female.
Dusty–Old, dirty or worn out.

E

E Z (easy)— To tell someone to calm down.

F

Fatty–A female with a large rear end.
Flashing–Yelling at someone in front of others.
Flares–Bell bottom pants.
Fugly–Very ugly.

G

G— A Friend.
G’d Up–To look good.
