More Celebrity Fashion Trends– “Would You Wear It?”

Every few weeks I compile a list of clothing items I’ve witnessed stars wearing in various entertainment and fashion magazines. Typically, I would wear about 20% of the items I see, the other 80% I question why anyone would wear. Of course, buying is a lot different than wearing. I will admit I have a habit of seeing a particular outfit, hunting it down in a store and letting it sit in my closet for months. It’s not that it doesn’t fit or that it is unflattering, it’s simply because I don’t have anywhere to wear it. (Ah, the life of a suburban mom.)

This time I decided to list at least three items that I would buy… and actually wear the next day. See, if you would do the same.

ONE-SHOULDERED DRESSES

Actresses Rachel Bilson and Emmy Rossum have been seen at recent charity events wearing these short cocktail dresses with bold asymmetrical necklines. Confession time: I wore a one-shouldered dress to my senior prom. It was comfortable and it showed off my tan quite well. However, I didn’t look nearly as good as the actress’, but I wouldn’t rule out wearing one again. (Not that I have any place to wear it to—this is a reoccurring problem.)

BLACK LEATHER JACKETS

More red carpet than biker pack, these fitted black leather jackets have famous owners such as Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst and Nicky Hilton. Believe it or not, I do own a black leather jacket, but it is very conservative (think anti-biker chick). It is double-breasted and cinches at the waist with a sash belt. I got it after receiving my first paycheck—at my college job. I still have the jacket, and as a matter of fact, I just wore it yesterday.

BROAD-STRIPED DRESSES

Remember that tried-and-true fashion rule: never wear horizontal stripes? Well, some famous bods are breaking it. Heather Graham and Sofia Coppola have been photographed (looking stunning) in their black striped mini dresses. This is an example of an item that I wouldn’t consider putting in my closet, let alone my shopping cart.

SUPER SKINNY JEANS

I have covered the skinny jeans trend and touched on topic of the super skinny jeans, but I am revisiting it because so many magazines are plastered with pictures of celebs in these tight-tight denim tights… I mean jeans. Would you seriously consider wearing a pair?

KIMONO DRESSES

Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Lopez were recently photographed wearing the same kimono dress (in different colors) and both looked great doing so. The particular kimono dress they donned is universally flattering, it hits right above the knee and has full-sleeves. The only problem I have with it is that the neckline plunges down past the breastbone. But, I guess; if you got it, flaunt it.
