I have always been a huge fan of everything Sesame Street. I grew up watching the show as a child, and attribute much of my basic knowledge, including how to could to ten in Spanish, to the show. There is something about the characters on Sesame Street that was always able to quickly grab my attention, and keep it until the show was over.
“1, 2, 3 Count With me” is a thirty minute movie put out by Sesame Street. The video features Elmo, Ernie, and the Count and in the movie Ernie teaches kids exactly how important it can b to learn how to count.
The movie has several musical numbers that help enforce learning the numbers, and will have your children singing their way to ten in no time.
This is obviously not a video to six your twelve year old in front of. Actually, I think that the video to some extent loses it’s novelty one your child knows how to count and can do it consistently without the help of the video. For that reason I would recommend, “1,2,3 Count With Me” for children in kindergarten and younger, not any that are older unless they are still working on their numbers.
I can speak from person experience that Sesame Street video work well in helping children learn new information, and keep it. For some reason I have always been able to remember songs better than random knowledge, and to this day still remember a song I learned on sesame Street to count to ten in Spanish. If you asks me what 7 is in Spanish, I can’t tell you. But if I take a second and sing the song in my head, it’s still there.
