Fitness Essentials: Your Mindset

Of all the fitness equipment, doodads, gadgets, videos and more that are available out there to us to use, the greatest of our fitness essentials is our mindset. Our mindset helps to determine our success, our perseverance and our ability to adapt ourselves to our fitness programs. You can meet your fitness goals without all the expensive toys in the fitness industries as long as you have the right mindset.

What are the important components of a good mindset?

  • Honesty – You need the ability to be honest with yourself about your fitness program and about yourself. You need to be able to look realistically at what you are able to do and what you are not able to do. You need to be realistic about your time and your goals
  • Determination – The facts of life tell you that there are going to be good days and there are going to be bad days. Some days you will just not be able to make your workout work due to weather, illness or other commitments. You need to not let your determination waiver, it’s harder to stay on track and keep going when the going gets tough – but to achieve your fitness goals that’s exactly what you need to do
  • Flexibility – Sometimes, what you’re doing is going to be successful for a while, but you may notice a stagnation in your fitness efforts – you have to be willing to change your routines and do something different and to accept that sometimes – your workouts aren’t always going to be fun, but if you can discover what works – you can make it fun

Your mindset is a critical factor in achieving your fitness goals. If you can’t be honest with yourself, if you can’t remain determined and if you aren’t willing to be flexible – you will find that getting to where you want to be will be a nearly impossible journey. But with the right mindset, you’ll get where you want to be whether you can afford the toys, the gym membership or the personal trainer.

So how is your fitness mindset today?
