Jesus, Our Promised Messiah

There are many people and religions out there that recognize Jesus as a good man but don’t believe Him to be the promised Messiah (anointed one). But, either Jesus is who He claimed, or He’s a liar. What honor, if any, does a liar deserve, whether they are good or not? When looking at the Old Testament prophesies of Jesus you can see there are some pretty specific events that had to take place in order for us to know He is the Messiah. In fact, there are over 360 prophesies that Jesus fulfilled! He was born where scripture said He would be (Micah 5:2) and born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). There was prophesy too of what blood line Jesus would come from—even how He’d be put to death some 800 year before the Romans instituted crucifixion.

The odds of anyone fulfilling even 8 of these prophesies is said to be 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000! Fulfilling 40 prophesies you would have to add 157 “0’s” after the “1”! From what history and the Bible show us, it is virtually impossible that Christ is not the Messiah.

The Dead Sea Scrolls give us historical proof of Old Testament documentation before the time of Christ. This along with New Testament accounts should be enough to convince any skeptic. Unfortunately, there are some people who have hardened their hearts and no matter how much proof is provided, they do not want to believe—and frankly, that’s exactly how Satan would have it be. They may have seen television documentation on Biblical history showing landmarks which have been documented through scripture, they may have experienced answers to people’s prayers, but have passed these things off as coincidence or not of spiritual relevance. Choosing not to believe truth does not make it any less real though. Thankfully God gives us free will to decide whether or not we want to serve Him.

I imagine for many who aren’t believers, information on this topic might be hard to grasp. If you are skeptical, please don’t take my word for anything! By all means do the research yourself. Pray too and ask God, “if He’s real,” to show you truth as you seek and study. I pray and trust you will find it and that you life will be truly blessed as you apply the teachings of Christ to your life.
