It’s never too early to start making Christmas crafts, decorations, and gifts, so they’ll be ready once Thanksgiving is over. You can even make some stuff that will work for both holidays, like we talked about before.
If you do want to get an early start on Christmas stuff, be sure to visit Michael’s Crafts online to check out their 25 most recent projects. You can also use some tried and true favorites like Christmas chains.
Just cut strips of red and green construction paper (about 2” wide by 10-12” long), glue or tape the ends, slip another strip through, and repeat. Soon you’ll have a nice long chain. To dress it up a little, add stickers or cutout shapes of stars and things to apply to the strips.
You can also start decorating some gift bags or make your own wrapping paper, so when it’s time to wrap gifts, you’ll be ready. These ideas work great for any small gift. Ask Mom or Dad to pick up a package of white lunch bags, and then you can stamp, stencil, or paint them. Add glitter or cutouts, and you’ll have great gift bags. Do the same things with large sheets of art paper, and you’ll have your very own wrapping paper.
You might even want to start decorating some flowerpots so your folks will have festive pots when they bring home some poinsettias. Ask Mom or Dad to pick up some plain flowerpots. You can paint them with craft paint, cover with glue and add glitter, glue on foil or foil wrapping paper, or you can decoupage scraps of tissue paper to create a nice mosaic design in Christmas colors. Another idea if you like decoupage, is cutting out old Christmas cards or designs from wrapping paper and applying them to the pot.
