For those of you who work in direct sales, you understand that shipping time cuts our December short. I’m working my last week of Discovery Toys right now and admit I’m ready for a break. Though I love direct sales because it is flexible, during the holidays you can find yourself on a Santa’s schedule rather then your own.
Here is how I’m working my last week of direct sales holiday joy:
I have two more in home parties where I will be focusing on stocking stuffers and teacher gifts. Most people have the big gifts done, but are looking for other fun ideas to take their holiday over the top as well as gifts for those people we all forget about. I have one last vendor event on Saturday.
I will be calling my customers that had expressed an interest in shopping who I have not heard back from. Customer care calls are a great way to touch base with potential hostesses and even if they do not need anything, they will better remember you in the future.
I am planning an open house for my friends and family where I will sell my extra inventory. I like to start the year out with as little in my inventory closet as possible.
I am also selling items from my inventory at a discount to my trade groups, on my local networking groups and via email.
Next week I will take a little time to breathe and then I will jump into booking January. If I take the rest of December off completely, my January will come and go. Most companies have awesome sales or incentives during this first month of the year.
Definitely work January! What you do today will affect your business one to three months from now. So by working January, you are setting yourself up for a great Spring. Look for more January tips to come.
Working your business is like opening a present! You never know what tomorrow will bring, but it’s more fun to find out then to leave it sitting in the corner.
