Celebrity Baby Boom—Who’s Pregnant In Hollywood

Boy (or girl), there must be something in the sparkling bottled water celebrities are downing these days. It seems every hour brings yet another announcement by publicists, reps, or the stars themselves, that there will soon be another little Tinseltown prince or princess joining the clan.

If you have been a bit out of the celebrity loop allow me to bring you up to speed:

Real life speed racer Jeff Gordon just announced that he and his wife of 5-weeks will be welcoming their first child this summer.

The happy daddy-to-be writes on his website: “Christmas came early for us this year. This is a very special gift for us – one that we’re both looking forward to. The due date is early July, and Ingrid and I can’t wait to be parents.”

The four-time NASCAR Cup Series champ and his Belgian model-actress wife, Ingrid Vandebosch wed last month in a private ceremony in Mexico, and spent their honeymoon weekend in Phoenix, where Gordon competed in the Checker Auto Parts 500.

But, Gordon is not the only celebrity athlete adding to the family. Tennis champ Lindsay Davenport recently announced that she and her investment-banker husband, Jonathan Leach, are expecting their first child early next summer.

According to her rep, Davenport’s pregnancy will cause this year’s 25th-ranked tennis star to miss the start of next season. Personally, I don’t think the 30-year-old mom-to-be will mind making the sacrifice.

And, she’ll be in good company. Davenport joins fellow athlete and Los Angeles Sparks center Lisa Leslie who just announced she will miss the 2007 WNBA season because she is expecting her first child with husband Michael Lockwood in June.

Leslie, a three-time league MVP, and Lockwood, a pilot and former Air Force basketball player, wed in Hawaii in November 2005.

And, finally, she is used to reporting celebrity baby news, but now “Access Hollywood” co-anchor Nancy O’Dell is making tiny tot news of her own. She announced Wednesday that she and her husband, business executive Keith Zubchevich, are expecting a child next summer.
