The Marriage Week in Review for December 16 – 22

Ay carumba! We’ve got just two shopping days left until Christmas. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and for many of you that means you either started traveling yesterday or you are traveling today. Chances are you have family coming to visit or to whom you want to visit. For us, it will be going to my mother’s tomorrow evening to celebrate Christmas Eve together and then a very quiet, family Christmas Day on Christmas itself. Honestly, I’m tired, but I will tell you more about that later. For now, let’s take a quick look at our week in review – I don’t want to hold you up too long.

Saturday, December 16

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? Sherry asked because with just 15 days left till that auspicious occasion, booking reservations at your favorite restaurant will be difficult.

Sunday, December 17

How Casual Are You? asked about your attitude with regard to your relationship and the danger of being too casual in your commitments. In Why Do You Love Your Spouse? we suggested a great gift to give to your spouse, by telling them why you love them –the substance of it as well as telling them that you do love them.

Monday, December 18

In what is love? we discussed what it means to love and what love means. Or at least we touched on the beginning of that discussion. In Comfort and Joy Sherry talked about the difficulty that you can experience at the holidays if you have lost a loved one whether it was this year or a few years ago. In Ladies, A Bad Relationship Can Cost You discussed the toll a bad marriage can have on a woman’s health even when the relationship is not abusive. In Do You Know the Secret to a Happy Marriage? we looked at the different secrets couples have for the success of their marriages.

Tuesday, December 19

Is Housework Sexy? You might think Sherry’s question is bizarre, but personally, when my husband dives into the housework, I find it very sexy. In Marriage Tales: Vignettes on Life are real stories of real people at the holidays. In Holiday Plans with the Ex-Spouse we talked about the necessity of making holiday arrangements for shared children of ex-spouses and how to make it work for both of you and your children. In It’s a Date – Touring the Lights Fantastic we talked about the date night that can include you and your spouse riding in a car, listening to Christmas music and sampling the beauty of the Christmas lights in the neighborhoods surrounding your own.

Wednesday, December 20

In The Last Ten Years I described a recent song released by Kenny Rogers and the impact it had because in many ways, it describes the world that my marriage has existed in for the last ten years. In Things My Husband Taught Me Sherry described how we can learn from our spouses and what she has learned from her own. In The Hard Questions we talked about getting so focused on the question, we forget that it’s the answers and the situations we need to look at – not the question.

Thursday, December 21

In You Don’t Want a Divorce, But Your Spouse Does we thought about the difficulty of creating an environment that your spouse will want to stay in, but part of the equation requires you to love them enough to let them go, creating an atmosphere of freedom and affection. In Faith Manages we talked about an old saying that helps us to do anything, achieve anything and to survive anything, because Faith Manages.

Friday, December 22

In Paying it Forward we looked at different tales of engaged couples and brides that were the recipients of paying it forward. In Getting Married Soon? we discussed the great thing about advice, like a buffet, is that it is plentiful and you can take from it what you would and go back for more if you are still hungry.
