As we mentioned New Year’s Resolutions – Where Do You Rank? Getting fit and losing weight are the two highest ranked New Year’s resolutions for those polled in various different online publications and newspapers. That being the case, if you want to get fit – your next thought is going to be how to get fit. For many people that means getting a membership at a fitness facility. So let’s spend some time on this today to help you out before January 1st rolls onto our calendars.
How to Select Your Fitness Facility
- Decide what your fitness goals are – if you are interested in sports, you are going to be more interested in a fitness facility that offers you sports options including tennis, swimming and rock climbing and more
- Review your budget – you want a membership that will not break the bank, many fitness clubs offer great opportunities for you, but also require that you sign a 1 year contract, you may need a membership that includes day care facility options and more
- Interview the personnel at the fitness club – are they friendly, outgoing and helpful? Do they have the qualifications and certification to provide you with what you need?
- Talk to the members in the club and find out their level of satisfaction – what do they like, what do they not like? What can they say to recommend the club to you?
- Is the club gender specific? For many men and women alike, a fitness club that caters to either men or women may be preferable and there’s nothing wrong with that
- Go over the cancellation policy? Are there penalties in the contract? Do you have to buy yourself out of it? Can you go month to month in the beginning without overspending your budget in order to check out the club?
- Go over the contract – be sure to look for what items are not included such as can you use the swimming pool or the fitness classes without incurring additional fees – what about the fitness trainers and more?
These are just some of the questions you need to answers to when you are selecting the fitness club you want to join. The final qualification will be a totally subjective one – if it meets all this criteria – do you like the club? Do you think you will enjoy the experience there?
Once you can answer all of these questions, you’ll have the answers you need to select the fitness facility for you.
