Can you tell what all these celebrities have in common? Besides being famous, they have all delivered one or more of their children in the comfort of their own homes. Why do you think these celebrities decided on homebirths, when the percentage for celebrity elective cesarean is over half? Some might say it’s only because of their desire for privacy, but there have been interviews with many of those mentioned which show that they also have reasons similar to those I’ve listed in The Let’s Talk Blog Top Ten – Reasons for a Homebirth. Aside from actually having homebirths, many of these stars also support related causes:

As you can see in the picture, Lucy Lawless supports breastfeeding. The photo was taken for a poster for World Breastfeeding Week in August of ’02.

Ricki Lake is said to be working on a documentary about midwifery and home birth, and it is rumored that she may even be pursuing midwifery or doula-ship as a career.

In fact, Pamela Anderson had both of her children in at-home waterbirths, and considers herself a very attached parent. She was also an extended breastfeeder, and an advocate for many causes. You may not have guessed that the former Bay-Watch babe was so “natural”, but it’s true.

Noah Wylie left behind his role as a doctor on ER to narrate the award-winning documentary What Babies Want.

I believe that celebrities have the ability to model admirable behavior to our children, and I applaud people such as Pam Anderson and Cindy Crawford for their efforts. Do you know of any other celebrities who have had homebirths, or lead otherwise natural parenting lifestyles?
