The secret to these businesses starts with a great product. I have never heard anyone say Pampered Chef is crap. In fact, though you can find similar items at Walmart, the quality of Pampered Chef I much better then a lot of things you will find at large retailers. Discovery Toys have a lifetime guarantee, so you know they are durable. This great product they offer is one thing that gives these businesses a success formula. The only place to really get the products is through a consultant.

The next thing that makes direct sales a great choice is try before you buy approach. You can’t go to Walmart and watch them bake on a stone. You won’t walk into the toy section and have someone give you a toy, show you a few different learning ways to play with it and then get time to play yourself. There is no one in the scrapbooking section to show you how to crop your photos. Direct sales companies offer more then just shopping, they educate and give you an experience.

Many women do not like the thought of doing parties. I often hear “I don’t want to do parties.” However, this form is great for consultants who can make $40 to $200 or more for just a few hours outside the home. Hostesses enjoy the free and discounted products. So it really is a great opportunity.

Team building is another advantage of many direct sales companies. For one, it’s much more fun to do it with a team. You want support above you to reach down and help you succeed. You also want support below you to help motivate you and strengthen your own business. Just like in a retail environment, a manger is compensated more for helping her team succeed. She is likely to get bonuses when her store hits a certain level. Direct sales is no different, however, you can build your team as large as you like and you don’t have to work mall hours.
