Along with announcing the iPhone at Macworld, Apple also announced Apple TV. Apple TV is designed to allow users to watch things they have on their computer, on their television.
For instance, if you download “The Little Mermaid” through iTunes, you can then upload it to your iTV and watch it one the big screen rather than have to watch the flick on your computer screen or worse yet, your iPod screen.
Apple TV also makes it possible to listen to your favorite music through the device. You can upload your music to the box, and then listen to it through your television. Apple TV automatically syncs itself with your iTunes library on your computer, s anytime you change the playlist on your computer, it changes on Apple TV.
You connect Apple TV to your television through an HDMI port or component video and audio ports much like you would a VCR or box from your cable provider.
In order to use the device you have to have Wi-Fi and a computer available in your home.
I can totally see myself buying one of these. In fact while I was surfing the web getting specs for the device I had to stop myself from clicking the “Buy Now” button.
This can be great for people who miss their favorite television shows and download them on the Internet, or even downloading and watching movies. A downloaded movie usually runs around $2…If I could upload it to my Apple TV and watch it on the big screen I think it might even be worth it.
Apple TV has a 40GB hard drive and can hold up to 50 hours of video.
Apple TV is set to be released in February and can be pre-ordered from the Apple store.
How many of you have heard about Apple TV, more importantly, how many of you would consider making a purchase?
