Think of the color orange, what kinds of emotions do you associate with it? We can all have good and bad memories attached to a color but in general, orange is a happy color. Orange is associated with joy, enthusiasm, creativity, courage, optimism, and intellect. It can help you feel more confident and sociable, more willing to talk out your problems.
The scent of oranges or tangerines can help ease anxiety, depression, tension, and stress. Just peeling an orange can stimulate this effect, or slather on some orange lotion, take an orange scented bubble bath or breakout your orange blossom essential oils.
What about eating our oranges? Oranges, cantaloupe, carrots, mangoes, peaches, cheddar cheese- why eat orange?
A single orange provides more than your daily required amount of vitamin C, it’s also high in fiber and is linked with several other key health benefits like preventing stomach ulcers, kidney stones and arthritis.
The orange color of a food usually signals that it’s high in vitamin A. Vitamin A benefits us by keeping our tissues healthy and lowering our risk to certain cancers and heart disease. Did you know that there is even an orange cauliflower that has about 25% more vitamin A than white cauliflower?
Orange foods are high in antioxidants that go to bat for our immune system and may slow the onset and progression of dementia and Alzheimer’s. There’s also plenty of folic acid to be found. Folic acid helps prevent birth defects and can help ward off certain types of leukemia.
Orange cheeses are high in calcium, protein, phosphorus, and zinc, as well as vitamins A and B12. It can even help protect against cavities.
You don’t need to go overboard. It is possible to get too much vitamin A (you need to be especially careful if you’re pregnant). Just add an orange food to each meal and you’ll be on your way to a better day of health. Oh, and don’t forget your orange sweater, lipstick, and aromatherapy.
