Attention Billy Joel fans: Just in time for Valentine’s Day the award-winning singer is releasing a new single that may assist you in the romance department. Joel says his first pop single in 14 years entitled, “All My Life” is a tribute to the love of his life, his present wife, Katie Lee Joel.
The Piano Man recorded the song last year in Manhattan with producer Phil Ramone in honor of his wife (she was the host of the first season of the Bravo TV series “Top Chef.”). But Joel recently told a New York newspaper that fans shouldn’t get too excited about hearing follow ups to the new release. He told reporters that “All My Life” is the only pop song he has finished since his 1993 album “River of Dreams.”
The song won’t hit store shelves until later this year, but it is currently available on People magzine’s website. It will also be available to download from iTunes on Febraury 20th. You can also catch Joel in action when he sings the national anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Following Joel’s lead, another legendary musician made a surprise announcement this week. Don Henley, the founding member of California’s classic rock group the Eagles, said the band might soon release an album of all-new music.
Henley made the announcement during a private concert in Las Vegas. He told concertgoers that after a 30-year hiatus the group was nearing completion on an album of all-new material.
“It’s coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don’t kill each other first,” Henley told the crowd.
The Eagles last album, which featured all-new studio material was “The Long Run” released in 1979. That album included the Grammy-winning single “Heartache Tonight.” A few years later the group disbanded. They reunited in 1994 for a comeback tour featuring Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder. Then, in 1998 the band appeared with past members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
