When your little one loses a tooth, you don’t want it to get lost when he or she slips it under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy. Making one of these Tooth Fairy Helpers will help keep that from happening.
Tooth Pocket
Cut one 4″ x 4″ square from felt. Cut one 6″ x 4″ rectangle from felt of another color. Trim one of the narrow ends to make a point. Glue the flat end to the square, adhering the sides and the bottom. Leave the top of the square open.
Fold the point over and down. Press a crease at the top so the point stays folded down. It should now resemble an envelope (only square). Lightly mark where the point touches the front of the square, but make sure the mark won’t show. Glue a snap front to the inside of the point, and glue the back of the snap just above your mark. Make sure the two parts of the snap line up before the glue has a chance to dry, and adjust them if you need to.
Decorate as desired, with yarn, ribbon, shapes cut from craft foam, or scraps of felt. Write your child’s name on the front of the pocket with a permanent marker, or write “Tooth Fairy” with glue and let your child sprinkle glitter over it.
Tooth Box
A ring box is the perfect size, but a box from a watch or bracelet will also work. The box must either have a lid, or must open and close on a hinge, to make sure the tooth won’t fall out. Paint the box and once it’s dry, decorate as desired. If there is no cotton padding inside the box, make padding from cotton balls or soft fabric, like felt, velour, or a scrap of velvet.
