My husband and I bought a new car yesterday! Well, it’s actually a crossover, a cross between and SUV and a mini-van, but it’s a beautiful vehicle. It’s loaded with awesome options like heated external mirrors and automatic lights, and all kinds of other stuff that I’m still trying to figure out. I’m so excited!
Our old mini-van broke down last year, with transmission problems. We saved up the money for the repair, but then the mechanic informed us it was going to be more than twice his original quote. Apparently, there were some manufacturer’s updates to the transmission for this model that were rather costly.
We decided that it wasn’t worth it to put that much money into a vehicle with quite a few miles on it. We began shopping for another vehicle, after much discussion and having come to the conclusion that the money would be better spent on a down payment. We got pre-approved for a loan with our banker and began looking, test-driving, comparing, reading reviews, etc.
We thought we had our minds made up. The Chevy Uplander was our favorite. The local dealer had one in blue and one in green (I mean Metallic Emerald). We really had ourselves talked into the blue one with the onboard DVD system, but we ended up selecting the green one with rear independent heat and air. That third seat can get pretty hot or cold with no air vents back their!
My husband and I negotiated a great deal. I have to give him most of the credit, but I appreciate him including me in the process and discussing each step with me before making an offer or decision.
We are the proud owners of our first new vehicle together. There’s nothing wrong with buying a used vehicle, but this feels good! We’ve struggled at times like anyone else, but together we’re making life better.
*Thanks, Babe. I love my new car and I love you too (I might even let you drive sometime!).
