Reusing What You Have – Flower Pots

A great, low-cost item that is completely reusable is a flowerpot. /It does not matter if it is made of Terra Cotta, ceramic, plastic or any other material. And it does not matter if you paint it, decoupage it, stamp it, use fabric or use scrapbooking items on it. The creative possibilities for decorating the flower pot itself are completely endless. However, what can you use these items for besides your plants and flowers?

Office Organizer

Smaller versions of the pots make great desktop organizers. They can hold pens, small clips, larger tools like staplers and scotch tape, and lots more. If you are concerned about small items such a paper clips, safety pins or push pins, coming through the hole in the bottom, simply cover the hole with a piece of paper or fabric.

Craft Supply Organization

The pots are equally a creative way to store craft materials like ribbons and floss, buttons or tools. You can use your craft items to creatively decorate the pot and then store the remaining supplies inside. Super large pots can hold idea books and magazines on the floor next to your work table.

Trash

No, do not throw them away, but the really large pots make creative and attractive trash cans in various rooms. Place a plastic bag inside to make disposal of the garbage easy. You can use these in any room and they look great!

Kitchen Counter Top

Another terrific place, to use leftover or unused pots is in the kitchen. Place near the coffee pot with packets of cream or sugar. Place near the sink or on a kitchen windowsill to hold sponges for dishes. Store frequently used utensils in a pot near the stove. Use one on your kitchen table or picnic table to corral silverware into one place. If you have small pots, you can creatively make place cards and place a napkin inside to hold someone’s place at the table.

These little items have endless possibilities and can be used in EVERY room in the house. Think toothbrush storage in the bathroom, think tool or nails in the garage, think pot-pourri or a candle in the living room or bedroom.
