After doing something strenuous, I’ve heard people say, “I found muscles I never knew I had.” I’m here to tell you that yard work gives that statement a whole new perspective. Ouch!
I’ve been working in my yard and garden for the past several days, and I’m starting to feel my age! I have never ended up this stiff and sore from yard work or gardening in my life. Of course, my husband and I have turned into Mr. and Mrs. Super Gardener, so it’s true that we’re doing more than usual, but still… Wow!
I’m sure it will be worth it once the flowers are blooming and we’re picking sweet strawberries and fresh vegetables. I’ll post some pictures when everything starts to blossom.
It’s also nice sitting outside for a while in the evening to rest after working hard all day. It feels good to admire our work and enjoy the cool breeze. It’s been so peaceful we hate to go inside, but duty calls. Basketball, softball, talent show, upcoming prom… there’s a lot going on, and that doesn’t even include our respective careers or spring cleaning.
Yet, it’s the perfect time of year in this area to enjoy the great outdoors. It’s not too hot, not too cold, and the mosquitoes aren’t out and about yet. It’s been in the 70’s and 80’s, although it does get rather chilly after dark. Still, there isn’t a thing to complain about, well, at least not aside from these tired old bones of mine.
Since I had some time off, we decided to expand our plans for the yard and garden by quite a bit. Now, there’s lots to do and it’s time to get back to work as well. So, I’ll see you in between spring cleaning, organizing, decorating, planting, pruning, and maybe even a little resting!
Do you have any yard or garden plans or current projects to share?
