Field Trip- What Else Could Go Wrong?

Wow! What a field trip! You always say prepare for the worst and anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Well, yesterday’s field trip hit all of these! Before the trip ever began, we had trouble.

Parents are typically welcome on our trips. However, we were attending a play and could only reserve enough seats for the students and teachers. Therefore, some parents were upset that they could not attend the play. We asked them to meet us at a park for lunch and all seemed settled.

The morning of the trip, we awaited our bus. We always request a large bus so that we only have to take one. The bus arrived and it was small. We could not fit on it. The driver had to go trade buses, which would likely make us late to see the play. We were unsure if they would allow us to come in. Thankfully, we were not late. We were actually three hours early!! We arrived to discover that we were booked for the 12:30 show instead of the 9:30 show. We simply changed our plans and decided to go to the park before the play instead of after as we had planned. We got back on the bus and were ready to head off.

We started up, well tried to, and of all the luck- the bus would not start! We radioed the county bus garage and they said that they didn’t know what to do for us. So we kept trying and the driver hit a few things under the hood. Finally, it began!

We played and had lunch at the park and made it back to the play for the 12:30 show. The play was absolutely wonderful. The children enjoyed it and so did the teachers. The day turned out well, but stressful at times. I do not think the children even knew that anything went wrong!
