Do You Drive a Honda? Free Inspections in April

Back in my single days, I had a gentleman friend who drove a Honda Prelude. I loved to drive it because it handled real well and sat pretty low to the ground. Though I’m more of the SUV or truck type of person, it was a lot of fun to take curves a little tighter than I might otherwise have done. We’d drive down Mulholland just for fun. Hondas are fun little cars. They don’t fit our current lifestyle as well as what we have, but most Honda owners I’ve known seem to be pretty satisfied with their cars. They’re going to be a little more satisfied this month.

April is National Car Care Month. Did you know that? I didn’t, but Honda does. They are offering a free forty-point inspection to anyone with a Honda. It’s “participating locations,” but the list is fairly long. What’s nice is that it’s a fairly comprehensive check, with a report printed out for you afterwards. Suzuki does this for us, and it’s very helpful, especially if you keep them year to year. I’m assuming they’ll do this every year.

You can even schedule the check online, though their Owner Link program. I’m not trusting enough to get a vehicle that automatically calls the dealership to let them know there’s a problem, but requesting a service call on a website is much more convenient that waiting on hold for someone from the service department who’s really too busy to talk anyway. OwnerLink also lets you pay your car payment online, check recall information, see what the recommended service for your vehicle’s mileage is, and keep track of maintenance. It’s free, requiring only basic information to register.

Remember, this is for April only. But if you’re the kind who keeps a tickler file, get the check and then set up a reminder for next year. You’ll be safer for it.
