Did you know in addition to being Animal Cruelty Prevention Month it’s also Pets Are Wonderful Month?
I already covered a couple reasons why I think my pets are wonderful in Bless the Pets Who Forgive Us Our Trespasses, but here’s some others specific to each of them:
Why Murphy’s Wonderful
• Because he’s so easy going and tolerant.
• Because he’s one heck of a good listener. I can grumble to him or sing to him (my singing is horrible, maybe even worse than my grumbling), and he just sits there wagging his tail.
• Because he’s so gentle with smaller animals and children, as if he understands he’s bigger and could hurt them.
• Because he gives the best wake up calls. (Murphy morning wake ups, I call them.)
Why Mr. Meow’s Wonderful
(Some of these I wrote about in Kitty Quirks: The Funny Little Ways He Says I Love You, but they’re worth repeating again because it is so wonderful when he does them.)
• Because he “holds paws” with me when we’re laying on the couch or in bed together.
• Because he makes biscuits on my neck and shoulders sometimes (if I’m really lucky and he’s in a good mood).
• Because he serenades me with his paw plucking air vent compositions.
• Because he’s my shower buddy who waits patiently until I’m clean before he’ll start playing in the water too.
• Because he plays funny games with me, like hide and seek and chase (after me, Murphy, or one of his jingle bell or sparkly balls).
• Because he’s funny with other dogs, like Murph’s best friends Sophie, Lady, and Tucker, and bosses them around like he does the rest of us.
• Because he’s got the best attitude and embraces change. (Well, most of it. He has met his match and doesn’t quite know what to do about Tabby, but he is trying to adjust.)
Why Tabby’s Wonderful
We’ve officially had her for two months now, and I’m still getting to know all of her quirks, but there’s a lot I already find wonderful in her:
• Because she loves to snuggle and be petted.
• Because she loved Murphy right from the get go and has adopted him as her dog.
• Because she loves to play, be it with cat toys or Murph’s. (He has these little stuffed squirrels she carries around and chases after.)
• Because she rides so well in the car, which unfortunately she’s had a lot of experience with. (See anyone of our multiple vet visits: When I first found her, her pregnancy check, her spay surgery, her surgery complications, her erupting pus incident, and her clean bill of health.
