Share a Secret with Your Spouse

Sharing a secret with your spouse can be exhilarating and fun. It doesn’t have to be anything big either. A knowing look, or a word, phrase, or signal that you have romance in mind can even do the trick. For his or her eyes only love notes are also pretty cool.

On the other hand, a secret chance to go out and do something together can also be fun. Leave equipped with your cell phone so that you can be reached if necessary, but don’t tell anyone else where you’re going. When asked where you were or what you were doing, just smile. Go have ice cream or share a decadent dessert. Go see a grown up movie that has no animation.

Since my husband and I can rarely find the time (or the funds) to go out for dinner, we like to sneak away for lunch. Sometimes, there’s not much sneaking to be done, since the kids are at school and we can leave freely, but we still like to keep it a secret. We have been caught when we ended up bringing home a doggie bag, or when the kids came across a receipt, and they used to get a bit indignant.

“You went out to eat without us?”

We assured them that Moms and Dads are allowed to do such things, and now it’s almost become a game to see if we can keep it a secret. Of course, we take them out occasionally too, so they won’t feel left out, but it’s fun to sneak around. Planning a special outing for the entire family, without letting anyone else in on it is also fun.

Do you and your spouse ever share secrets? If not, give it a try sometime. Secrets shared often make people feel closer to each other, and as mentioned, it can often be the smallest thing that you keep to yourselves.
