Another busy week in Frugal Living has come to an end, and it is time once again to show you what has been going on this past week. With three bloggers, there is a never ending supply of terrific ideas, tips and advice for living a more frugal lifestyle. Visit the previous Week In Review, to get more great ideas.
Monday April 9th
We started off our week with several terrific articles. Traci offered advice in Saving Money by Cutting The Phone Cord. If you follow this advice, you can really cut back your phone expenses. We did this a couple of years ago and have been saving ever since. Mary Ann brought us two terrific articles, Frugal Spring Cleaning: Washing Windows and What to Do With Old Toothbrushes. Her articles are always extremely helpful with saving money and these two are no exception. As I have mentioned in the past, I wanted to take April to focus on freezer cooking and garage sales. No, they don’t go hand in hand, except that a freezer cooked meal might be the perfect end to a long garage sale day. I started this week off with a helpful article on Garage Sale Signage.
Tuesday April 10th
In Two Tips For Frugal Baby Sitting, Mary Ann notes the growing cost in baby sitting and how even one night out can sure break the frugal bank. However, she gives two wonderful tips for overcoming that problem. Then, in New Uses For Yogurt Cups, she gives excellent ideas for reusing these items we tend to just toss.
Freezer Cooking: Meal Planning Advice (1) and (2) give you some great pointers, tips and advice for planning your freezer cooked meals. I shared my own personal experience to help you out.
Wednesday April 11th
Mary Ann wrote New Uses For Old Earrings, which was a really useful article for all those old earrings and mismatched earrings you more than likely have. My favorite thing to do with old earrings is to use them on a bulletin board like push pins. Read her article for moer excellent ideas.
In Pricing Items at a Garage Sale, I gave you some help with the ever annoying task of figuring out prices for your sale. And then in Freezer Cooking: Filling Your Freezer, I provided some advice for getting the most out of your freezer and how to ensure that your meal planning goes as expected.
Thursday April 12th
Again, Mary Ann brought some useful tips in New Frugal Uses For Pillowcases. You might not have ever thought of these, so be sure to check them out. I’ve been really enjoying her articles about the Amish, and she brought us another, Frugal Lessons From The Amish: Cooling Food which is excellent. Continuing on my garage sale and freezer cooking theme, I explained the importance of item displays, in a garage sale, in the article, What Do You Use For Displays at a Garage Sale? I’m often asked about how freezer cooking can actually save money, so I answered this question in Freezer Cooking: Does This Really Save Money?
Friday April 13th
Finishing off the long work week, Traci brought us the article Roll Ups, Juice Boxes and Cheese Sticks, Oh My! , which was an excellent article on making your own snacks to save money. Mary Ann also provided an article on yummy food, in Frugal Food: Make Some Muffins. I’m a muffin lover, so I especially enjoyed the article. She also gave us some great tips in Frugal Ways To Decorate a Child’s Room. After our move, we will be decorating six bedrooms, five of which are children’s rooms and these tips will certainly help.
In Garage Sales: Arranging Items For Display I showed you how to display your items after you’ve found tables and other resources. Then in Freezer Cooking: Don’t Give Up, I provided encouragement to keep up the hard work, and not to just throw in the towel.
Saturday April 14th
Beginning our wonderful weekend, Traci wrote Trendy Tee’s And Jeans – on a Budget, which I loved not only because it’s frugal but because its artsy and crafty too! Mary Ann taught us the important aspects of Saving Brown Sugar, with some great tips. Garage Sales: Do All Items Need Price Tags? answers the important question of pricing items and making sure certain items definitely have a tag, and why it is important to price all items. Friendship is important, and having someone with you, on those hard freezer cooking session days, is definitely a plus. Sunday, April 15th
Ending the entire week, Mary Ann wrote another great “living like the Amish” article, Frugal Lessons From The Amish: Giving Up Your Vacuum. An informative look at alternatives to using your vacuum cleaner.
An often asked question regarding garage sales, is How Much Change Should I Have For My Garage Sale? Hopefully this article will help you decide what is best for you. In addition, I also wanted to end the week on a useful note, with Freezer Cooking: Shopping With a Plan, where I explain the importance as well as give tips to shopping for a freezer cooking session.
