Actor’s Angry Rant At Young Daughter

If you’ve ever had the impression that most divorces are amicable affairs you must be unfamiliar with the details surrounding the demise of the marriage between actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.

The couple divorced in December 2001 after eight years of marriage, and it seems their bitter custody battle over their daughter Ireland has gone on just as long. For years the media has been following the pair’s highly contentious relationship and now it seems things have gone from bad to worse.

According to news reports, the war between the spouses has taken another nasty turn. On Thursday an entertainment news website posted a seething, threatening voicemail message Baldwin recently left on his 11-year-old daughter’s cellphone.

In the voice mail message the actor unleashes on Ireland for missing a scheduled phone call.

“You have humiliated me for the last time,” he tells her in the recorded message.

And that’s about the nicest part of the message.

Baldwin went on to berate his own flesh and blood calling her a “rude little pig” before telling her that she doesn’t “have the brains or the decency as a human being.”

He then goes on to say that he plans to fly from New York to Los Angeles “for the day just to straighten you out on this issue.”

YIKES! And, that’s just half of the message, which was laced with profanities (some directed at Basinger) that I felt uncomfortable reprinting in this blog.

Shortly after the voicemail message went public Baldwin’s spokesman said in a statement that, “in the best interest of the child,” the 49-year-old actor “will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing … keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order.”

Baldwin’s handlers tried to diffuse the situation by blame shifting. They maintain that Basinger and her lawyer leaked the recording to the media.

Basinger’s only retort: “I think the voicemail speaks for itself.” Though, her attorney did add that Baldwin suffers from “severe emotional problems” and that he had been accused of domestic violence in the past.

I’ve written about this famous couple’s custody battle in previous blogs. Personally, this latest ugly incident doesn’t change my opinion about either of them, it does however, make my heart break even more for their daughter.
