More Good, Bad, and Ugly Celebrity Tidbits

THE GOOD

Good… no, make that great news for teen hip-hop star Lil’ Romeo. According to news reports, he’s bound for the University of Southern California and a potential career as a professional basketball player (that’s if all goes according to plan).

Lil’ Romeo (his real name is Percy Romeo Miller) is currently a junior at Beverly Hills High School. On Friday his record label confirmed the teen musician has committed to playing basketball for the Trojans in 2008.

I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because Lil’ Romeo’s father, hip-hop mogul Master P, had tryouts with two NBA teams in the 1990s.

THE BAD

I suppose you could consider this one good news/bad news: Christie Brinkley’s estranged husband Peter Cook just reached a settlement with Diana Bianchi, the teenager he admitted to having an affair with while he was married to one of the most beautiful women on the planet.

Lawyers involved in the case refused to disclose the details of the settlement. According to news reports, Bianchi’s attorney, would only say, “The matter has been resolved.”

According to Brinkley, it was Cook’s affair with Bianchi that lead to the breakup of their 10-year marriage. Bianchi hired an attorney last year when word got out that the two had a relationship, which began when Cook hired the then teen to work in his office.

While the case involving his ex-lover may be over, Cook is still in the process of working out the details of his divorce to Brinkley. The couple is due back in court next month.

THE UGLY… AVERTED

A guy on the radio said yesterday that things could get ugly at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner if “American Idol” reject Sanjaya Malakar took to the mic to sing.

Well, crisis averted. Malakar didn’t belt out a single note at last night’s event. Rather, the 17-year-old wild-haired “Idol” contestant reportedly mingled with stars including Teri Hatcher and Sheryl Crow. (Malakar was a guest of PEOPLE magazine.)

According to reports, Malakar wore a refined dark pinstriped suit and highlighted, loose curls. Speaking of hair, when asked what his future plans entail, the former Idol answered: “Doing a hair commercial would be awesome.”
