Friday Fitness Funnies: Things You Don’t Want to Hear

It’s Friday and I have been having discussions lately with moms who work out at fitness clubs, moms who work out chasing their kids and still other moms who work out at home or through regular walking and running through the neighborhood. While all of these moms have different ways of achieving their fitness goals and likely even have different fitness goals, they are united in some ways.

When it comes to fitness and exercising, there a lot of things we don’t want to hear. Some of those things include:

  • You need to really sweat
  • You need to work harder
  • You need to really bust a move
  • You need to work for failure
  • You need to feel the burn

Everything I Needed to Know About Fitness ….

Everything I needed to know about fitness I learned … well, I didn’t necessarily learn it in kindergarten, but I have learned quite a bit. Like did you know that you can always tell you’ve reached your strength fitness goal when you can pick it all up and chuck it out the window? When I was growing up, the only exercise equipment I saw my parents use was a clapper and that as an American, I’m proud to exercise my rights – but we need to be equally proud to exercise our bodies.

Another thing I’ve learned about fitness is that many people are discouraged by exercise videos and advice that tell them to wear loose clothing if none of their clothes are loose to begin with. I also know that you should really make sure you have that physical before committing to an exercise program or purchase, because your heart needs to be up to the shock of how much some exercise equipment costs these days.

I’ve learned a lot about fitness – not all of it is fun and games, but it is funny.

What have you learned?
