Do You Need to Increase Your Income?

There may come a point when you have cut back all possible expenses, but you still do not have enough to make ends meet. This may be as a result of a job loss, some type of unexpected accident or injury. If this is the case you will need to find some new ways to generate income temporarily until you are able to find a better permanent solution. There are several options available to you.

1) You could get a second job, or a temporary job if you just lost yours. If you can work somewhere you can earn tips, you will likely make more money than if you picked up a job at the local grocery store. This makes a better use of your time.

2) Consider freelancing in your line of work. There is often extra work available for you to complete in your field or a similar field. A nurse can work evenings sitting with the elderly or reading depositions for lawyers. An accountant could pick up extra small business clients or prepare taxes for people. A teacher could tutor, grade tests online, or write curriculum. Utilize the skills that you have to make more money.

3) If you worry about taking time away from your family, try to find a way that your family could work together to make money. You may decide that you could take on a family paper route or provide an errand service. I know several families that have cleaned office buildings after hours to earn extra money.

4) If you simply cannot make ends meet on your current salary, you may need to consider changing your line of work. Go ahead and take the jump and attend college or a technical school. This can help you turn your life around. This is a long-term solution, so you may need to do one or two of the above to help you finish school.
