I have been blessed to always live in a home that has had the Priesthood. I think when I was in college I learned how much blessed I was to grow up in the home that I did. I also learned that the Priesthood is available to everyone. The church has set up the home teaching program as a way to make the Priesthood available to all. If you are single, or your husband is not a member you can call and ask your home teacher for a blessing.
Recently my husband called and asked for a blessing. It was a wonderful experience. I have a good friend whose home teacher became a second father. He was a witness at her wedding. The blessings of the Priesthood are available to all. You simply need to ask for a blessing whether you are sick, in need of guidance or comfort.
The home teaching program helps to provide guidance and support to all families that belong to the church. It helps to bring the gospel into each home. It also provides a support system to all members to help with temporal needs as well. This is a wonderful blessing that the Priesthood provides.
The blessings of the Priesthood can also be seen through the ordinances of baptism, the Sacrament and ordinances of the temple. It is important to realize that all members benefit from the Priesthood whether or not you hold it. Through Priesthood blessings and ordinances the Priesthood can help us grow closer to the Lord.
I am grateful for the Priesthood in my life. I am grateful for the blessings that I have received. I am grateful that I can partake of the Sacrament each week and renew my baptismal covenants each week. I am grateful for my patriarchal blessing and the guidance it gives me. I am grateful that we can all receive the same benefits.
