Say Cheese! Picture People Free Portrait

In September of 2001, on a whim I had the kids’ photo taken at a Picture People in the mall. They needed haircuts and their clothes weren’t new, but it was to be a surprise for daddy. Cute photo of them holding flags and stars, and wearing red, white, and blue. Two days later 9/11 happened. To me, the picture will always remind me of that tragedy. It’s what photos are for, really. To take us back to a snapshot in time.

Sophia Loren had a portrait taken of her son every day of his childhood. What a wonderful idea! I’m unfortunately in a different tax bracket than she is, but I still like to have their photos done professionally once in awhile. Yes, there’s always Wally World’s inexpensive package, but sometimes it’s nice to go a step up. What usually kills the deal for us is the sitting fee. An advertisement that seems like a good deal quickly goes south when I read “$6.95 per person sitting fee.” Not a huge problem if you have one, but $28 in sitting fees for four means it’s no longer a bargain.

Picture People is offering a free Father’s Day photo. Choose either an 8×10 or a 10×13. The best part is that there are NO sitting fees. Hooray! Of course, they want you to buy the whole package, but I’ve never found this franchise to be pushy about it. If you do decide that the photos are too darling to pass up, you’ll get 10% off during this promotion.

So take the kids when Daddy’s at work, golfing, or sleeping. Let it be a secret the kids are in on. It’s a great idea if your DH is deployed, too (you’ll have to do it early so it arrives in time.) Men are sentimental, too, and how many pencil holders can they really use anyway?
