Have you read my earlier article about saving money in the shower? It was all about very practical and easy advice for being frugal when getting clean. Now, for the truly frugal, or maybe just adventurous, I can offer you some additional tips.
Many times I get comments or messages asking for more advanced ideas. You want to save as much money as possible, a great way to be! When it comes to something as simple as taking a shower, you can still really pinch all of the pennies that come your way. While some of these tips take a little more effort or may be seen as a little more extreme, you can be sure that they will save you money.
Skip A Day. One of the simplest ways to save money in the shower is to limit the frequency. Do you really need a shower every single day? Your immediate answer is probably YES! But think about it, especially in the winter when your skin is already dry. How dirty do you normally get in a day? I don’t really want to know. That was a rhetorical question. If it is a matter of washing your hair, you can always try skipping the shower and washing your hair in the sink, shutting off the water while sudsing.
Reuse Your Shaving Cream. Yes, you can reuse your shaving cream in the course of one shower. For women, quickly lather and shave one leg, saving the later to apply to the other leg. It will reduce your cost of shaving cream by 50 percent. Men can try the same thing by lathering one side of their face and reusing the lather for the other side.
Use Bar Soap. This might not sound too extreme, but it is amazing how people are attached to their body wash. You will tend to use much less with bar soap (a lot of body wash seems to go right down the drain), and it costs less to buy, too. When the bar gets small, don’t toss the slivers, use them.
