Are The iPhones Sold Out?

In case you are wondering if you can still get an iPhone, the answer is, well, maybe. But, it certainly won’t be easy. Apple is reporting that Apple Stores are almost completely sold out of the cutting edge device. In fact, they are sold out in the following states (in alphabetical order): Hawaii, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington, so if you live in one of those state, you just might have to cross the border (or up ocean) to seek your iPhone.

You can always check with your local AT&T store. However, Mark Seigel, the spokesperson for AT&T says that they have just a handful of the iPhones left, being pretty much sold out in all of its 1,800 AT&T stores.

It seems that as impressive as the sales numbers were on launch day, the enthusiasm is increasing, rather than waning, as iPhone customers take their iPhones home and show them around to friends, relatives and neighbors. They must be enthusiastically showing off all of the interesting features, such as the new voice mail system.

Anyone who hasn’t heard about the iPhone prior to iDay (the day the Apple iPhone launched on June 29th) has surely had some inkling of the iPhone’s existence by now.

In related iPhone news, according to the U.S. market research firm iSuppli Corp., Apple is making about 55% on each 8GB iPhone that is sold. The iPhone is also available in a 4GB version, but it isn’t quite as popular. That makes sense, since consumers can get twice as much memory for just the additional $100. The 8GB seems to be the bigger profit-maker of the two iPhones. The 8GB iPhone sells for $599, and the 4GB iPhone sells for $499.
