Celebrity Updates: Hilton’s Trash and a New Addition to the Royal Family

In a previous blog I wrote about the outrageous appeal of Paris Hilton. The just freed jailbird’s popularity was tested and further proved during a recent eBay auction. A couple of jokesters from the website HollywoodStarTrash.com rummaged through the celebutante’s garbage and put a few items on eBay. The results are now in and they may surprise you.

An empty container of gourmet dog food taken from Hilton’s trash fetched $305 in the online auction, which wrapped up this weekend. In addition, a used toothbrush sold for $305; two envelopes sent the hotel heiress while she was in jail sold for $510; and a Coke can pulled from her trash went for $51.

My question: How in the world would the person who shelled out $305 for the empty dog food container prove the authenticity of the item? That brand of dog food is available throughout California so how would you know that it wasn’t really picked up from the local dump and put up on eBay? More importantly, why in the world didn’t I think of making money by going through others people’s trash? Apparently, you can rake in the green even if the garbage isn’t autographed by a star.

Just hours after they threw a star-studded birthday party for their late mother, Prince William and Price Harry got news that they will be getting a new cousin later this year.

According to news reports, the prince’s uncle, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie are expecting their second child in December.

“The Earl and the Countess [of Wessex] are both thrilled and excited,” a palace spokesperson told the British press. “The countess will continue with engagements as normal and take doctors’ advice.”

Forty-three-year-old Prince Edward is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II and the brother of Prince Charles. He and wife already have a daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, who was born in November 2003. The royal couple wed at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in June 1999. Two years later Sophie suffered a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy before becoming pregnant with Louise.

The new arrival will be the eighth grandchild for the Queen and Prince Philip.
