The World’s Longest Yardsale

Think your a diehard yard sale shopper? Then maybe you are ready to join hundreds of thousands of other people at the world’s longest yardsale.

The world’s longest yardsale, also known as the Highway 127 Corridor Sale, spans 630 miles through five different states. While the organizers say that it is impossible to keep track of how many vendors their are selling their yard sale goods, they know that it has grown to be the biggest event of this type in the world.

There are both homeowners selling personal stuff from their homes, as well as vendors and dealers at the sale. With so much stuff, it is actually impossible to visit every both and see the whole sale during the four days that it is running.

The event draws people from all over the country and even other parts of the world.

This year’s sale promises to be bigger than ever. Not only is it the 20th anniversary of the sale, but the sale was expanded to include another 180 miles!

The sale is headquartered in Jamestown, TN and will take place from Thursday, August 2nd through August 5th of this year. And if you can’t make it, you can always watch it on television. HGTV will air a special event in which yard sale experts tour the sale and talk about some great finds. The show will air on August 7th.

If you do go to the sale, you might want to keep a few tips in mind:

Set a limited budget. You don’t want to wind up breaking the bank. When your yard sale limit is reached, return home or visit one of the area attractions instead.

Wear comfortable shoes. With 630 possible miles to walk (yes there is some parking), you don’t want to be derailed because of sore feet.

Don’t forget the sun block, hats and water. You’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors, so be prepared.

Be aware of your space limitations for taking your treasures home. A great deal won’t be so great if you have to abandon your purchase or pay a lot to ship it home.
