Celebrity Milestones: It’s A Celebration

Happy Birthday to legendary entertainer Bill Cosby! He turns 70 tomorrow and says he is ready to celebrate his upcoming milestone in style.

“It’s the longest I’ve ever had to wait for anything in my life,” Cosby quipped when asked by reporters if he was excited about the big day.

Cosby says he plans to spend his birthday with family, friends, and gourmet food. He will also be taking a short break from his newest project, a book he is working on with a Harvard Medical School psychiatry professor called “Come On, People! On the Path from Victims to Victors.” The book is a compilation of issues Cosby has raised during community meetings he’s held around the country in recent years, including high school dropout rates, crime and the rise of teenage pregnancies in the black community.

He may not be blowing out candles, but that’s not stopping Stan Lee from celebrating his own milestone.

Lee, who is considered a legend by many for creating such Marvel comic book characters as Spider-Man, the Hulk and the Fantastic Four, is finally going to be joining the ranks of his creations as an action figure.

Hasbro execs are now confirming the rumor that has been circulating on the Internet for months—that Lee is becoming a seven-inch tall action figure in the company’s Marvel Legends line.

“Oh, man, I’m so excited,” Lee told reporters at a recent comic book convention. “It was mentioned to me about a year or two ago that people were thinking of producing it. I said, ‘Hey, great,’ and I forgot all about it!”

The figure’s official name is “Marvel Legends Stan Lee” and it comes in special packaging that, when opened, reveals a marvelous bonus: accessories that help turn Lee into Spider-Man. According to Hasbro execs, underneath Lee’s blue jacket and khaki pants is a Spidey outfit, and you can even swap out Lee’s head for Peter Parker’s.

Finally, the wait is finally over for you Court TV fans. The cable network has finally unveiled its new name.

According to network brass, the new name is “truTV,” which is supposed to reflect an emphasis on nonfiction programming. The change officially goes into effect on January 1, 2008.

You should know that regardless of the name change, the network still plans to offer court coverage from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and on its website. But the focus will shift when a new talk show starring Star Jones Reynolds debuts this fall.

The network also said series like “Forensic Files” and “Haunting Evidence” will continue, but producers also developing shows on female bounty hunters in Miami, con artists and life-or-death rescues.
