This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson thirty for those who are older than eight. Junior Primary and Nursery’s discussions are based on lesson twenty-nine. You may also want to discuss the sharing time theme with your children. This month it focuses on recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about saying he was sorry. The lesson taught the children that even though they might make mistakes, it is important to apologize and try to fix them. This focused briefly on repentance. The children learned the story of Alma the younger and how he was able to repent. You may want to focus on apologizing this week.
If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about faith. The children discussed that faith is believing in something they cannot see. The children then learned the story about the brother of Jared in the Book of Mormon. You may want to share your testimony and how important it is to have faith.
If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about Jesus and the Garden of Gethsemane. The lesson discussed how the time in the garden was especially difficult for Christ. The children learned about the importance of the Atonement. The children were encouraged to learn the third Article of Faith. The assigned reading for the week is Matthew 26:36-46 and Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-18.
If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about making home a heavenly place. The lesson focused on the teaching of President David O. McKay. Some specific characteristics, that they were encourage to work on, were love, scripture study, temple marriage, communication, living the commandments, and unselfishness.
For all members over the age of fourteen the Sunday School lesson was on Acts 10-15. The lesson discussed the importance of the gospel going out to all people, not just the Jews. It discussed the teaching of Paul to the Gentiles. It also covered Peter being freed from prison. Additionally it talks about not making the Gentiles live the Law of Moses. Next week’s reading is Acts 15:36-18:22 and First and Second Thessalonians.
The young women learned about service and their testimonies. The young men learned about charity. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were based on lesson fifteen in the Spencer W. Kimball manual. The lesson discussed the importance of being a reverent people. Next week’s lesson is lesson sixteen “The Sabbath-A Delight.”
