Money Belief Systems Affect Our Businesses

Money is neither good nor evil, it is simply a means to an end–a commodity–here in the real world. But, our emotional feelings and belief systems around money can have a very definite influence on how we manage our home-based businesses.

I have been amazed how it doesn’t seem to matter how many “business books” and articles I read, or how many lists and skills I apply to my work–my belief systems around money and work are what REALLY influence and affect how I am able to progress with my small business. Taking time out to examine (and re-examine) my belief systems around money and work have had more of a positive role in helping me to build my business than all the spreadsheets and mentors in the world!

So, what is a “belief system”? Well, what are your beliefs about money, work, and business? Do you think that money corrupts or that rich people are smiled upon by God? I know I am pulling out some clichés here, but this is what is meant by a “belief system” around money. What sort of beliefs and values have you been raised with? What have you learned through life experiences? What is working for you and what is not? You might be holding yourself back with unproductive or limiting belief systems.

Do you believe in the work hard no matter what principal? Or that you should work smart and not hard? Taking the time to really dig down and examine your belief systems around work, money, and the business world can help you to come to peace with your business, find out what motivated you or what might be blocking you from feeling or being successful, or give you new insight into how to keep yourself motivated and what you actually WANT to achieve with your work and business efforts.
