How many times have you stood in line at a department store and wondered if the frock you were clutching was something you really needed? After all, couldn’t the 50 bucks you are about to drop be better spent elsewhere? If you answered “yes,” then perhaps I can help you feel better about spending money on items you simply must-have because they make you look so darn good.
Designer Kenneth Cole is coming to the rescue of fashionistas who feel guilty about purchasing a shirt they simply have to have. (Wait a minute… do fashionistas ever feel guilty about buying clothes?) Now you can follow in the footsteps of celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Heath Ledger. Both have been seen around L.A. sporting “I Have Issues” t-shirts. The simple, but definitely not understated t-shirt is part of Kenneth Cole’s “Awearness” clothing campaign. All of the T-shirts in Cole’s new line reference societal problems, whether it’s global warming or identity theft… and here’s the part that will make you feel better about buying one: for each t-shirt sold, $10 is donated to the Awearness Fund, which fights AIDS and helps the homeless. The shirts are unisexual and retail for $35.
If you are looking for another way to give and get at the same time look for the Atype Couture line. The new collection of t-shirts and other hip clothing items gives 100% of its profits to Couture for Cancer, a non-profit organization that donates custom-made non-surgical hair replacement systems free of charge to any person suffering hair loss due to cancer and chemotherapy treatments. Palm Beach Hair Replacement specialist Mario Mazza who made headlines when he started giving free hair replacement systems in his salon to local cancer patients founded the charity four years ago. By going public with his new designs Mazza is hoping to send wigs to cancer patients around the world. You can help out this incredible cause by purchasing products including digitally controlled straight iron/ curling iron or graphic T-shirts, which read: “I Love My Hairdresser…” To view the rest of Mazza’s line click here.
