Have you heard about Disney’s Refillable Mug Program? If you haven’t, you’ll want to keep reading. If you’re planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World, this program can save you a bundle!
If you will be visiting Disney World and staying at a Disney resort (other than the deluxe resorts) then you should make a point of visiting the nearest Disney food court or snack bar style restaurant to your hotel and buying a refillable mug for each member of the family. You may also find these in your room when you arrive. Remember that just because it is in your room does not make it free. You’ll still be charged for it but at least you won’t have to go on a quest to find it.
The mugs cost about $12 each but this is a one-time fee that will more than pay for itself in coffee, tea, soda, hot chocolate and lemonade refills throughout your stay at the Disney resort. If you consider that you’ll be charged $2 per soft drink if purchased separately, the math isn’t difficult. The cup will have paid for itself with only six drinks plus you’ll have a great souvenir to boot!
(Although juices and milk are not available on this program, if your family members are big drinkers of soft drinks you’ll find this a welcome bargain.)
While you cannot use these mugs within the Walt Disney World parks, they will come in very handy when you’re resting up in your room, hanging out with the kids at one of the playgrounds or relaxing by the pool. You’ll find quickly that you’re saving money with the refillable mug rather than by purchasing soft drinks individually from vending machines, room service or snack bars.
There are two styles of cups and they range from 12-16 ounces each. You can get the mug style cup or my favorite, the kind with a slim bottom that will fit in a standard cup holder.
Remember, pinching your pennies this way while staying at a Disney Resort will make more cash available for all those other fun things you’ll want to buy – like mouse ears!
