A Secret Wedding and A Secret Engagement

They finally did it. After more than four years together actor Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer got married in a secret sunset ceremony on the Big Island of Hawaii Monday.

According to Maguire’s rep, the nuptials were witnessed by a very small group of family members (including the couple’s 9-month-old daughter) and a few close friends.

The 32-year-old “Spider-Man” star and 30-year-old Meyer (the daughter of Hollywood big wig Ron Meyer, president and chief operating officer of Universal Studios) have been dating since 2003 and were engaged last year shortly after Meyer learned she was pregnant. Their daughter Ruby was born last November.

The couple has kept their long-term relationship very low profile. Those who know them describe the two as “very guarded people”. In fact, Maguire has said on more than one occasion that since the birth of his daughter he has been thinking of moving away from Hollywood.

“I’m at that stage where I have to start thinking about where I want Ruby to grow up and go to school,” Maguire told reporters earlier this year. “Even though L.A. is pretty laid-back, maybe it would be a good idea to try a different, less ambitious kind of atmosphere.”

While she is now happily hitched to Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman can’t forget that she almost married another man shortly before she walked down the aisle with her current husband.

In what is being called a “bombshell interview” with Vanity Fair magazine, the actress opens up for the first time about her engagement to a man she dated after her divorce to Tom Cruise was finalized.

“I got engaged to somebody … but it just wasn’t right,” Kidman tells the magazine. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”

Despite Vanity Fair’s prodding, the 40-year-old actress refused to identify her former fiancé’s name. I’m not sure who it was, but the only public relationships Kidman had during the time she split from Cruise and married Urban were with musician Lenny Kravitz and multi-millionaire/film producer Stephen Bing.

In the Vanity Fair interview Kidman also set the record straight about her widely publicized miscarriage. The actress says shortly after she and Cruise married they “lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic,” she says. “And that’s when it came that we would adopt [daughter] Bella.”

You’ll recall that Kidman and Cruise were married for 10 years, adopted two children, and divorced in 2001. Many media outlets falsely reported that Kidman suffered a miscarriage in the months prior to their divorce.

Now Kidman is going on the record saying she hopes to have a baby with Urban someday in the near future.

“I’m yearning to have one,” she says. “I think I would be very sad if I wasn’t able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly.”

For some reason I have always felt sorry for Nicole Kidman. She’s gorgeous, she’s talented, but it seems like is always struggling with relationships. Do you get the same feeling about her?
