Try these simple affordable autumn touches to get your home ready for fall:
Color, of Course
Adding great autumn color is almost always first on the list, but try to find new places to inject warm color. Try lining your shelves with fabric or adding a runner in the front hall to add warmth and softness.
Fall Flowers
Mums or “pot mums” come in gorgeous colors just right for this season. You can purchase potted mums in decorative containers or simply pick up some in a plain flowerpot and select your own planters. Fresh flowers always add charm.
Simple Centerpiece
If you have a tiered treat stand or even a stemmed cake plate, use it as a foundation for a great fall centerpiece. Sprinkle silk or velvet leaves around the base, drop a few on the plate itself, and add mini pumpkins and some pumpkin colored candles. Use a pillar candle on top and small candles around the base or on other layers.
Inverted Idea
Turn a wineglass upside down and use the stem base as a candle stand for a votive candle. Use one, a pair, or as many as you like. Place decorative items beneath the glass too, if desired. A few glass stones in the same color as the candle you’re using is a nice touch. Tie ribbon around the stems.
Make Scents of it All
Ah, the home baked aromas that accompany autumn! Who doesn’t love the scents like cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, apple cider, pumpkin pie, and gingerbread? Well, we don’t have to wait until we’re ready to bake in order to enjoy these fragrances. We can choose from a great assortment of luscious fragrances for the home, many that simulate our favorite baked goods, making our noses (not to mention out waistlines) very happy!
Go ahead… start sniffing out the best fall fragrances now. Don’t forget ones like banana nut bread, cappuccino, peach pie… (time to stop; before the thought of these scintillating scents makes me hungry for home baked goodies!).
