Some women spend a great deal of time and money on their hair. They have regular hair appointments and buy many hair products. Many women are now even purchasing hair straighteners for up to $150.00. Do women spend this time and money to impress men or to make them fell good. I think it is a little of both.
My hair is naturally curly. It is unruly and has no style. It styles itself. While I like my hair to some extent because it gives me “character” and is now the trait given to my daughter, I have also always wished for the long straight smooth hair that seems to be desired by most males.
So are men really more attracted to women with particular hair types? Research says yes. Men more prefer women with long hair to women with short hair. One study found that when showed pictures of women with long and short hair, the men found the women with long hair more attractive. When the short hair women were viewed with longer hair, it was found that men found them more attractive.
So what it about long hair that men like? Studies say that long hair appears to be more feminine than short hair. Short hair gives women a “boyish” look. Long hair also usually requires more maintenance and time. Studies say that men are more attracted to women who take time fixing themselves up. Some hairstylist say that long hair looks better on some women because it hinds their undesirable features that short hair reveals.
Long hair is also a trait of youthfulness. It is an unspoken rule that as women grow older their hairstyles are supposed to grow shorter. This rule was developed for many reasons. First, women with children have less time to spend on hairstyles. Babies are also known to get tangled in and pull long hair. Hair thinning also drives women to shorter hair styles.
I think that each man likely has his own preferences of features in women. However, overall it does seem that long hair is the most common desired hair length.
