Many of us got into the world of self-employment because we really wanted to do our own thing without being told what to do! There, I’ve said it. Some of us (and I am including myself in this group) don’t want to be told what to do and we want to be solely in charge of making choices and decisions for our businesses. Now, that said, I have learned that it doesn’t always mean that I really love everything I have to do for my business. I think I thought that I wouldn’t ever have to do anything unpleasant or that I wasn’t completely enamored of again once I went independent. That is definitely NOT the reality…
You’ve heard the saying, “change happens”? Well, even if we don’t have a boss or someone else to blame for forcing changes upon us, we do have to adjust to change in our businesses. And, we often have to make choices that we really don’t like and do things that we would rather not–but it is best for the business and the best choice for us to make. It’s like that old saying that you just can’t like everything you do and we all have to do things we dislike. Even as an entrepreneur there are going to be plenty of things we find ourselves embracing, without being in love with them!
So, do what needs to be done to keep your home business growing, and try not to let your own ego get in the way. I know that seems a little counter-productive for a home business owner, and I am definitely NOT advocating going against your values or beliefs. Still, there will be those times when change is a-comin’ and regardless of whether you like it or not, you still need to change with the times.
