Planning a wedding can be a big undertaking, especially if you plan on having many guests. A wedding can also be very costly. When on a budget, many women decide to try to do some of the wedding preparations themselves.
Planning and carrying out your own wedding can save money and work nicely. However, you need to be realistic. Only choose to do the items that you feel you are capable of without creating you much stress on your wedding day.
If you plan to try to do the decorations for your wedding, I suggest only planning for things that can be done the night before. For example, if you are creating floral arrangements, make sure that they are silk. You do not need to be up the morning of your wedding worrying with live arrangements.
If you plan to cater your own wedding, ask family members or friends for help. Assign each person a task or a food. Make sure that you plan on making items that can be made a few days ahead of time and frozen or stored. Assign or ask for persons to put the food out on the tables during or right before the wedding.
The music at your wedding can easily be done by the bride or the groom. With today’s technology, you can simply burn a CD of your favorite songs and ask someone to push ‘play’ at the appropriate times.
The wedding program is also a good task for the bride to undertake. Again computers will allow you to create beautiful and profession looking programs. Copying stores are great for making nice copies. They can be folded and ready days before the ceremony (just make sure that there will not be any changes made before the program is complete).
A bride can easily save money by doing some of her wedding plans herself. However, she must remember that she wants her wedding day to special and as stress free as possible. She must not add to the stress by having too many wedding tasks to complete.
