The Gift or Blessing in Each Day – part 4
Tuesday was definitely a day for praising God. We have our daughter visiting for a few days which is a joy and then on Tuesday I got back on the tennis court and had a hit for an hour on the synthetic grass courts at the local club. The arm was a little sore particularly when it came to backhands, as I know I use a lot of wrist in my backhands.
According my son who had tennis lessons when he was younger and was very good at tennis, I have the wrong grip, hold the racket wrong, have it strung too loose and basically do everything wrong. Yet somehow it still manages to work mostly. Backhand has always been my best shot. Not so on Tuesday. It felt a bit weak but I know it will improve with more exercise and practice. It’s a bit like the Christian life and Christian virtues – we need to keep exercising them and practicing them. See 2 Peter 1:5-11
It was funny being on the tennis court and watching kangaroos bounding around or lounging under the trees on the golf course next door while golfers are playing. Also I had my first dip of the season yesterday at Huskisson beach. It was a bit cool but invigorating.
Then we came home and had a shower and watered the garden. I’m enjoying seeing the petunias and azaleas growing and flowering in our garden. Mind you, our dog grumped at us because he didn’t get his walk that day but he and we had a two hour walk the day before. It wasn’t quite intended to be that long but we took a wrong turn somewhere and then had to keep wending our way back around the water’s edge of St Georges Basin to get back. That day we encountered a few of the locals -the furry kind as we walked. The kangaroos simply stared at us. Guess they figure they were here first and then after a while they bound off.
In the evening we went to Huskisson Pictures the local cinema to see Hairsprayit was a couple of hours of fun.
That’s a few of my blessings for one day. I hope you’ve been looking for and finding God’s gift or blessing in each day. Don’t be shy. I’d love for you to let me know about your blessings. As Christians we can so easily encourage each other by sharing the good gifts God gives us.
