How this for a refreshing change—a hotel void of foul odors.
Hampton Hotels (they own Hampton Inns and Hampton Inn & Suites) new chain-wide “Non-Scents” program is guaranteeing guests rooms void of stale cigarette smoke, the smell of headache-causing cleaning products, and the putrid aroma of perfume mixed with body odor.
The introduction of the “Non-Scents” program follows a month long survey of 1,000 people who almost unanimously responded negatively to distinctively foul odors in hotel rooms. More than 75% of respondents reported that cigarette smoke is the most dreaded smell in a hotel room. What’s more, the survey found that more than two thirds of respondents who were given a room with a bad smell complained, asked for a discount or refund, or canceled their reservation.
To keep their guest rooms as fresh smelling as possible Hampton housekeepers now use Febreze Linen & Sky fabric refreshers or air fresheners to neutralize odors. (Might I also suggest opening a few windows during the cleaning process?)
I’ve stayed at Hampton Hotels many times, but I have not had the opportunity to frequent what is now being called the world’s largest hotel. I would have to fly to Malaysia to do so, but by the sounds of it, the trip might be worth it.
The First World Hotel is home to a staggering 6,118 rooms and incorporates a theme park and a half-million square feet of shopping space as well. The lobby features 32 check-in counters staff by employees who are reportedly able to check in about 700 guests per hour. Even more jaw dropping is the amount of laundry that is done on property each day. According to hotel staff, the 26,000 square foot laundry room is where more than 40 tons worth of laundry is done on a daily basis.
Bet it smells good in there.
