It was revealed today that country legend Porter Wagoner has lung cancer. I had blogged a couple of days ago that he was in a Nashville hospital in serious condition, but his publicist has not said why he was hospitalized.
He did get a visit from his country music protégé Dolly Parton earlier this week. Dolly and Porter have had an on again off again relationship since he took her under his wing in 1967. They performed together as duet partners for several years before, after several disagreements, Dolly decided to strike out on her own. She wrote her #1 hit “I Will Always Love You” in 1974 about her relationship and break with Wagoner. There were even some that questioned whether the two had a romantic relationship as well as a working relationship, but Dolly said the words to the song were merely written for someone she admired and would always love.
Dolly promised Porter this week that once he got better, they would sing together again.
Kid Rock just cannot seem to quit swinging his fists. His last bout was at the VMAs on September 9th with fellow Pamela Anderson ex Tommy Lee. Now he is throwing down in the Waffle House in Georgia.
Rock was arrested at the Waffle House in Atlanta early this morning. He arrived around 5:00 am and the fight occurred when a male customer made a comment about a female in Rock’s entourage, who he knew. The fight moved from the inside of the restaurant to the outside, with a window of the restaurant being broken by the male customer. Rock left in his tour bus but was stopped by the police about a mile away. He and the five others with him were charged with simple battery while the male customer was charged with criminal damage to property, which is a felony.
You know, I like Kid Rock’s music; I just wish he would ease up on the anger issues and concentrate on hi music more. He is currently on tour for his new release, Rock N Roll Jesus. He is still waiting to find out if he will serve jail time for his misdemeanor battery against Tommy Lee.
