In a previous blog I provided directions on how to create a picture bouquet using leftover headshots of your children or pets. The photo flower project is simple, affordable and the end result is sure to be appreciated by person who receives it.
If you liked the way the first bouquet turned out then you’ll definitely want to try this next project. It’s a bit more labor intensive, but you don’t have to be in the same league as Martha Stewart to complete it.
Instead of flowers made out of construction paper, this bouquet uses paper cupcake liners. The following directions are for one flower, but you’ll want to make at least 6 to 12 so they appear like an authentic bouquet.
Materials:
· Two cupcake liners
· Colored markers or crayons
· Headshot of loved one
· Circle template the size of the bottom of the cupcake liner
· Pipe Cleaners
· Scissors, Paste, Pencil
First, get a pint-sized helper to draw stripes on one of the cupcake liners. Simply follow the paper liner’s creases with a variety of markers and/or crayons. Next, cut slits on every other crease in the liner so the end result yields a frayed edge. Then, paste the uncolored cupcake liner on top of the colored one. While that’s drying, use your template to trace a circle on the photograph you want placed in the center of the flower. Cut out the photo. Paste the photo in the center of the uncolored cupcake liner. Finally, place a piece of tape to the back of the finished flower and adhere it to a pipe cleaner. Once you’ve completed about 10 of the flowers you can tie them together with a ribbon or place them in a small vase. You could also use the photo flowers to embellish a greeting card or place a rubber magnet on the back and decorate your refrigerator with it.
